NHK Documentary: 10 Years w/Hayao Miyazaki
-
Let’s meet, watch a movie, and enjoy some popcorn together.
JASGA is excited to invite you to join us for the Free NHK special screening of 10 Years with Hayao Miyazaki. We will view Ep. 2 Drawing What's Real.
SYNOPSIS: An exclusive, behind-the-scenes look at the genius of Japan's foremost living film director, Hayao Miyazaki -- creator of some of the world's most iconic and enduring anime feature films. Miyazaki allowed a single documentary filmmaker to shadow him at work, as he dreamed up characters and plot lines for what would become his 2008 blockbuster, "Ponyo on the Cliff by the Sea." Miyazaki explores the limits of his physical ability and imagination to conjure up memorable protagonists. This program is the first of a 4-part documentary, "10 Years with Hayao Miyazaki."
GENRE: Documentary
This event is free to attend! Please RSVP, as space is limited. Popcorn will be provided, so please bring your own non-alcoholic beverages.

Garden Volunteer
Saturday, February 2025 TBA
-
Let’s meet, join hands and volunteer to maintain and improve Pease Park and enjoy some fun times together.
Parents can register their kids by writing in their children's name and using the parent's email address.
Thank you to the members, families, and friends of JASGA for joining the Conservancy's Park Operations Team and helping keep Pease Park clean and healthy for all to enjoy!
All ages welcome; children must have adult supervision.
What to Expect 🌳
The project for this opportunity depends on the seasonal needs of the landscape but could involve mulching, weeding, seeding, planting, seed collecting, litter pick-up, or other general garden care tasks.
What to Bring 🎒
Please bring a refillable water bottle to stay hydrated along with any items you may need, such as sunscreen, bug spray, snacks, etc. Pease Park Conservancy will provide all necessary materials, including gloves, but you are welcome to bring your own pair.
What to Wear 🥾
Volunteers are encouraged to wear close-toed shoes, long pants and socks, and comfortable weather-appropriate clothing that they do not mind getting dirty.
Note:
Parents will need to register their children, but this is quite easy. Once parents enter their name and email information under the "Who is registering section" they will simply click the "Add Minor" drop-down, click "Add Minor", then input the child's name. Each child will need their own entry.
Please note the maximum capacity of volunteers is 20 and registrations will close on October 5th at 3:30 in the morning to give the operations team plenty of time to plan materials.
We will send a reminder email with all of the logistics (event date/time, meeting location/address, parking information, materials to bring and attire to wear) to registered participants the day before the volunteer opportunity.

Parking Information & Meeting Location 🚘
We highly encourage alternate forms of transportation such as walking, biking, public transportation, carpooling, or rideshare when visiting Pease Park. If you drive there is a small parking lot in Kingsbury Commons (1100 Kingsbury Street) and available street parking along parkway.
Additional FREE parking can be found at the Austin Recreation Center parking lot (1301 Shoal Creek Blvd) or the ACC Rio Grande Parking Garage (824 W 12th Street). Both of these options connect to Pease Park via a short walk along the Shoal Creek Trail.
Once you arrive please meet JASGA and the PPC staff member at the volunteer hub. This is the large metal building just next to the restrooms and amphitheater.
